Mimi Dress – Pattern Parcel

Pattern Parcel #5: Choose your own price and support DonorsChoose. Win/win

It’s Pattern Parcel time! Are you as excited as we are?? Since this site is called Mimi’s Mom, I made my girls the Mimi Dress by Filles à Maman. Makes sense, right?? Aw, yeah.
Mimi Dress - Pattern Parcel

My “Mimi” is the older one, and Ellie is both her shadow and complete opposite. Now that Ellie has started Kindergarten, the school staff can pick her out as so obviously Kimberly’s little sister. They’re 5 and 11 going on 15, each with their own sense of style. But every once in awhile, something just works for both of them. The Mimi Dress is one of those things. It would even work for me! Luckily, there is a women’s version as well.

The options I picked here were voted on by the younger, who insisted on matching exactly. Luckily the older was happy with that. No collar, in the dress length. Both want to rip the belt off, but I can’t win them all. I adapted the pattern to a 3/4 sleeve as requested by simply folding the full length sleeve in half and creasing, then folding the bottom up to meet that center crease and using that as my new cut line.

I really liked the details of the pattern’s design. The facing and keyhole neckline look so sweet, and the hem facing makes it easy to finish the shirttail hemline. It’s a fun and casual look, but also an easily dressed up design. Even with the infinitely classic style, it was so comfortable that both my girls begged to sleep in their Mimi Dress.

I love this Parcel, because it’s perfect for girls of a wide range of ages! Mine are 5 1/2 years apart, and these patterns have classic, clean lines that appeal to all ages. I’ve got a couple more pieces on my sewing table now that just might make it to the blog before the time is up. So, are YOU ready to go buy your Parcel yet??? Need more convincing? How Pattern Parcel Works:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we’ve raised over $11,000 for classrooms in need!

They’re so awesome looking in their matching dresses. I can’t imagine life with two little girls. Just the one I have is too much some days! At least they like their new dresses. <3
